Unfortunately, it seems that Zoom has pulled their guitar multi-effects units out of production. The newer types are difficult to find, some old models are difficult to find in shops. Too bad, they are a lot of fun to put under your desk as an extra toy. There are alternatives from other brands, but do they have a desktop interface that works on GNU/Linux?
The combination of my Zoom G3Xn and the ToneLib-Zoom program makes it a nice tool to record a musical idea without much trouble . The device not only has effects, but also a built-in drum box, looper and tuner.
The looper and drum box also work well together, allowing you to play a piece of rhythm first and then start the recorded loop, exactly to the beat.
Ik heb de audio in/output direct verbonden met een USB audio interface via een insert, kan dus direct de output van gitaar (of microfoon), de looper en ritme opnemen zonder van mijn stoel af te hoeven komen. Ik plug mijn gitaar in een voor de Zoom G3Xn gereserveerde input, en klaar.

A looper is almost indispensable in a home studio:
Slightly more complex looper piece with drum box, acoustic Parlor guitar and bass run played live. Bass guitar also works nicely with the Zoom.
Iets complexer looperstuk met drumbox, akoestisch Parlor gitaartje (via microfoon) loop, en live gespeeld bas loopje. Bas gitaar werkt ook mooi samen met de Zoom.
