About this blog

Updated: 24-6-2022

This website is primarily intended to provide music and (GNU/Linux ) keep audio production related matters that interest me centrally.

The reason I use GNU/Linux solutions are here.

I am a person with an interest in music and audio, love buttons, sliders, wires, boxes containing functional electronics and other sound producing and recording things. This interest has gotten a bit out of hand, and now I have a fairly extensive home studio that I'm trying to use with exclusively GNU/Linux based software solutions.

At the moment I have two well-functioning computers at my disposal, one home-built (with an MSI X470 Gaming Pro motherboard as a base) desktop with the following specifications:

With the update to Pop! -OS 22.04 I made the choice to use PulseAudio say goodbye and move on to Pipewire as a solution for audio routing in my system. I now also have most of the audio software that I use (most can be found on my link page) freshly installed as Flatpak.

I hope to be able to test all audio and midi peripherals that I have at my disposal on these systems soon. Progress can be followed on this page . For now, pipewire looks good enough to be reasonably usable, but I don't have much experience with it yet.

I run this website on my own “server”. If you are a returning visitor, and find the server offline, it often means that I am working on an upgrade, update, maintenance or that I have made a strange mistake. I often manage to solve this fairly quickly, but sometimes there is no time to sit down for a while.

The spec for the "server" I'm currently using:
